| The mechanism of the erosion downstream of the closure dikes is analyzed. It is concluded that the erosion is caused by vortex flow. Based on the concept of conservation of vortex circulation after erosion and prior to erosion, the formula for calculating the scouring depth is deduced. The validity of the formula is verified by flume experiment data. |
