                   Abstract:An innovative retrofitting technique is proposed for the wire breakage in prestressed concrete cyl⁃
                   inder pipe (PCCP), in which prestressed carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) sheets are externally
                   wrapped around the pipe. The validity of this technique was then verified using a full-scale test on a PC⁃
                   CP of 6 m in length and 1.4 m in inner diameter. A three-dimensional finite element (FE) model of PC⁃
                   CP reinforced by prestressed CFRP was established based on the verification by comparing the predicted re⁃
                   sults with the test results. Afterwards, the CFRP prestress and number of CFRP layers were used as vari⁃
                   ables to analysis the mechanical properties of the strengthened PCCP. The results show that the bearing ca⁃
                   pacity of the PCCP strengthened by prestressed CFRP is improved significantly;and the influence width of
                   wire broken and reinforcement on PCCP is limited to about three times of its width. Being strengthened by
                   2 layers,4 layers and 6 layers of CFRP with 10% prestress,the bearing capacity of PCCP with 15% bro⁃
                   ken wires can be increased by 65.6%,103.1% and 162.5%,respectively.
