Studyonsoilgradationcharacteristicsandcontinuousgradingequation

Abstract:The Grading ofsoilhas a significantimpacton its engineering mechanicalproperties.The
comprehensiveinvestigationofsoilgradingcharacteristicsandtheestablishmentofquantitativegradingequationsare
essentialforanalyzingthephysicalandmechanicalpropertiesofsoilaswellasitsengineeringapplications.Byana
lyzingthegradationcharacteristicsofsoilundervariousparticlecontentdistributionpatterns ,thefundamentalform
ofthegradationcurveofcontinuouslygradedsoilwasdetermined.BasedontheBurrdistribution ,acontinuous
gradingequationsuitableforvarioustypesofcontinuouslygradedsoilwasproposed.Therelationshipbetweenthe
characteristicparametersofthegradingequationandtheshapeofthegradingcurvewasquantitativelyanalyzed ,
andthewideapplicabilityofthecontinuousgradingequationwasverifiedusingactualengineeringdata.There
searchfindingsindicateastrongcorrelationbetweenthedistributionpattemsofsoilparticlecompositioncontentand
theshapeofgradationcurve,andtherearefourbasicshapesforcontinuousgradationcurve,includingapproxi
matelystraight ,bisquar,convexandinverseS - shape.Theproposedcontinuousgradingequationcanaccurately
describethesefourbasicforms.Theshapeofthegradingcurveandthequalitysoilgradingcanbequantitativelyde
terminedbyanalyzingthecharacteristicparametersofthecontinuousgradingequation.Thecontinuousgradinge
quationcanwelldescribethegradingcharacteristicsofcoarse - grainedsoil ,suchasnaturalgravelandartificial
blastingrockfill,aswellasfine - grainedsoillikenaturalsand,silt,andclayinthecoveringlayer.

Abstract:Inordertocopewiththeincreasinglyfrequentandintensedroughtsunderclimatechange,andto
guaranteethewatersafetyofwatertransferprojectsandlocalwateruse,itisurgenttorevealthemechanismsof
thechangesinprecipitationoftheHanjiangRiverBasin (HRB),whichisanationalstrategicwatersource.Sum
merprecipitationintheHRBaccountsfor40 - 50% oftheannualprecipitation.Inthisstudy ,theHybridSingle -
ParticleLagrangianIntegratedTrajectorymodelwasusedtoanalyzethemoisturetransportofsummerprecipitation
intheHRBanditsatmosphericcirculationbackgroundduring1959 - 2022.Itwasfoundthatprecipitationlasting
over72hoursaccountedfor44.6% ofthetotalsummerrainfall,andbothfrequencyandamounthaveshownsig
nificantdownwardtrends ,whichisthemainreasonforthedecreaseinprecipitationoftheHRB.Simulationofthe
moisturetransportprocessshowsthattheSouthChinaSea (SCS),WesternPacific(WP),andEasternChina(EC)
arethemainsourcesofwatervaporforsummerprecipitationinthebasin,withcontributionsof34.7%,28.7%,and
27.2%,respectively.Comparisonofmoisturetransportprocessesforprecipitationofdifferentdurationsshowsthat
thelongertheprecipitationduration ,thehigherthecontributionofwatervaporfromSCSandWP.Althoughthe
moisturefromWPshowsasignificantincrease ,themoisturefromSCSdecreasessignificantlysotheprecipitation
over72hoursstillshowsadecreasingtrend.ThenegativecorrelationbetweentheWestPacificSubtropicalHigh
indexandthecontributionofSCStotheprecipitationinHRBpartiallyconfirmsthecontributionoftheenhance
mentandexpansionoftheWPSHonthereductionofsummerprecipitationofHRBinrecentyears.
