                  Abstract:Duringtheprocessofurbandevelopmentandrenewal,thetransformationoflocalareascansignificantly
                  affectbothsurfacerunoffandundergrounddrainageprocesses.Inthispaper ,thenumericalmodelofcoupling
                  hydrologicalandhydrodynamicprocessesisapplied ,andthesouthernXixiaDistrictandthenorthernJinfengDis
                  trictofYinchuanCityaretakenastherenewalareasoftheoldcityandthenewcity ,respectively.Theresults
                  showedthatrenovatingtherainwaterandsewagesystemsintheoldurbanareasignificantlyreducedsurfaceinunda
                  tionandpreventedpipeblockages.Differentrenovationschemes (Area1,Area2,andArea3)resultedinare
                  ductionofsurfacewaterloggingrangingfrom25.06% to49.63% comparedtothepre - renovationperiod.Theper
                  centageoftimethatpipeswerefilledwithwaterafterpeakflowand3hoursofrecessionwasreducedby1.51to2.39
                  and1.32to2.66times (1 ≤P ≤5)comparedtobeforetherenovation.Inthenewurbanarea,theexpansionofresi
                  dentialareas (0.56%,0.30%,and0.19%)hadagreaterimpactonsurfaceinundationandrainfallrunoffcontrolas
                  therainfallrecurrenceintervalincreased.However,whenP = 20 ,thepercentageofincreasedinternalinundation
                  afterrenovationwashigherthanbefore,buttherateofincreasesloweddown.Thelongertherainfallreturnperiod,
                  thegreatertheparabolicconstantvalue.Therefore,thestudyemphasizestheimportanceofconsideringtheimpact
                  oflocalchangesontheoverallrainandfloodprocessintheregion ,achievethateffectofnipinthebud.
