Abstract:Climate,precipitation,andnaturalgeographicalfeaturesaretherootcauseofbothnaturalwatersys
temsformationandfloodingoccurrences.Inrecentyears ,accompanyingtherapidurbanizationofChina’scentral
regions,citiesarenowfacingseriouschallengeswithregardstostructuralimbalanceofcitydrainage,damageor
destructionofnaturaldrainagesystems ,andoverdependenceondrainagepipework.Citywaterlogginghasalready
becomeaperilousreality.ThisarticleutilizestheHenancitiesofJiaozuo ,Zhoukou,andPuyangasexamplesto
backtracetheevolutionarypathofurbanwaterspacesfrom theperspectiveofwaterloggingpreventionandmitiga
tion ,demonstratingtheintegraleffectsofthestructuralrestorationofhistoricwatersystemsonthesafetyandsus
tainabledevelopmentofmoderncities.Finally ,thisarticlecallsfortheestablishmentofamanagementsystem of
urbanwaterspatialstructure - includethesurveyoncities ’historicwatersystemsamongbasicinformation;strategi
callyprotectandrestorecities’historicwatersystems;establishaunifiedoverground - undergroundurbanwater
spacespecificationandmanagementstructure.
