Abstract:TorevealthedistributionpatternandcharacteristicsofsedimentationalongtheLowerYellow River
(LYR),aseriesofstatisticalanalyseswereconductedbasedonthemeasureddataofsedimentationineachsection
ofLYRfrom1952to2021.Itwasfoundthat :(1)Therearesevenlongitudinaldistributionpatternsofsedimenta
tion,amongwhichthewhole - lineerosion,thewhole - linedeposition,theuppererosionandlowerdeposition,
theupperdepositionandlowererosionarethefourmainpatterns.Thecriticalpositionoftheupperdepositionand
lowererosionpatternisnearSunkoustation ,andthecriticalpositionoftheuppererosionandlowerdepositionpat
ternisinthewanderingriversection.Thereisabigdifferenceinthecontributionrateofeachpatterntotheoverall
sedimentationoftheriverchannel.Thelargestcontributionratetotheamountoferosionisthepatterndepositingin
themiddleanderodingintheupperandlowerreaches ,andthelargestcontributionratetotheamountofdeposition
isthepatternofwhole - linedeposition.(2)Thevariationprocessofthelongitudinaldistributionpatternofsedimen
tationsince1952canbedividedintofourstages :1953 - 1959,1960 - 1985,1986 - 1999andafter2000.(3)The
distributionoftheamountofsedimentationineachriversectionismainlyanormalorskeweddistributioncentered
on0point.Thefluctuationoftheamountofsedimentationhasthetrendofdownstreamdecreasingatthemulti - year
scaleandtheperiodiccharacteristicsofalongtimeoferosionwillsilt ,alongtimeoferosionwillscour.(4)The
overallfrequencyofsedimentationineachriversectionisnotmuchdifferent ,reflectingtheequilibriumtendencyof
riversedimentation.Inthepast70years ,onlyabouthalfofthesedimentdepositedattheriverbedintheLower
YellowRiverhasbeenwashedaway.Thecumulativeamountofsedimentationfrom HuayuankoustationtoSunkou
stationiscloseto80% ofthetotalamountofsedimentationinthelowerreaches ,andtheriverbelowSunkoustation
isverysmall.(5)Thewhole - lineerosionisthemainpatternaftertheoperationoftheXiaolangdiReservoir.The
sedimentdeposi4tedintheearlystageoftheXiaolangdi - Huayuankousectionisbasicallywashedout,andtheJia
hetan - Aishansectiononlywashedaway20% to30% ofthesedimentdepositedintheearlystage.Theresultssum
marizedthedistributionpatternsofsedimentationandanalyzedthedistributioncharacteristicsofsedimentation ,
whichwashelpfultodeepentheoverallunderstandingofsedimentationphenomenaintheLowerYellowRiver.
