                  Abstract:Thetwo - wayflowofthesideinlet?outletofthepumpedstoragepowerstation,thesizeoftheroofex
                  pansionanglewilldirectlyaffecttheuniformityoftheflowvelocitydistributionofthetrashracksection,andeven
                  thereverseflowvelocity.Thedesigncodeofpumpedstoragepowerstationtakes3°~5°astherecommendedrange
                  ofexpansionangleofsideinlet?outletroof,whichisbasedontheexpansionanglewiththesmallestresistancecoef
                  ficientofrectangulardiffuser.However,theshapeofsideinlet?outletismuchmorecomplicated,soitisnecessary
                  tofurtherexplore.Inthispaper ,asideinlet?outletshapeistakenastheresearchobject,andthenumericalsimu
                  lationmethodisusedtostudytheinfluenceoftheroofexpansionangleof11anglesontheflowvelocitydistribution
                  ofthetrashracksectionundertheoutflowconditionandtheinflowcondition.Theresultsshowthatundertheout
                  flowcondition ,withtheincreaseoftheexpansionangleoftheroof,themainstream positionofthemiddle - hole
                  trashracksectiongraduallydecreasesfromthemiddletothebottom ,andtheflowvelocitydistributionofthesec
                  tiontendsfrombasicallysymmetricaltoasymmetricalwithlargeratbottomandsmalleronthetop.Whentheexpan
                  sionangleoftheroofislarge,thereverseflowvelocityappearsintheupperpartofthemiddle - holetrashracksec
                  tion.Withtheincreaseoftheexpansionangleoftheroof ,thevelocitydistributionofthesideholetrashracksection
                  graduallychangesfromthebasicuniformitytotheunevendistributionofthebottomandtheupperpart.Withthein
                  creaseoftheroofexpansionangle ,thenon - uniformitycoefficientoftheflowvelocityattheorificesofthemiddleand
                  sideholesgraduallyincreases ,buttheflowvelocitydistributionofthemiddleholetrashracksectionismoreaffected
                  bytheroofexpansionangle.Intheinflowcondition,withtheincreaseoftheroofexpansionangle,thevelocitydis
                  tributionofthemiddleandsideholetrashracksectionandthenon - uniformitycoefficientoftheorificevelocityhave
                  noobviousinfluence.Theresearchresultscanprovideguidanceforoptimizingthedesignofsideinlet?outlet.
